BEST RUN EVER*

3.5 miles, untimed.

BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE:

We’re about a mile into the run near another middle school in the area. Lots of kids are walking along the greenway and all of the sudden there’s heavy footsteps behind us. Naturally, we turn around. A former student is sprinting toward us with his arms wide open. He pummels into me and wraps me in the biggest hug. Ever. [This kid came a LONG way with me last year. I was definitely upset when he left.]

At this point his “crew of bros” start laughing at him and I said, “Dude. It’s cool. It was good to see you!”

He snaps his head around and says, “Yo! SHUT UP. She was my favorite teacher.”

I’m a notch above bros, guys. It’s pretty serious.

He made a grunting noise toward them and we continued on the greenway.

I’m not sure if it was seeing a former student or running FINALLY popping back, BUT: It was good. It was really good.
