1. Windows. Lots and lots of natural light.
2. Couch(es). At least one, for reading and thinking and talking with students.
3. Standing desk(s). I want one, I want there to be some for students as well.
4. Flat walls. Mine right now are tin.
5. A huge whiteboard or chalkboard. Or two, on more than one wall.

What would be your top 5 things you want in a classroom?

Okay, I’m late to the party:

1. Tons of books! Tons and tons and tons of books. I’d take a wide range to accommodate all my reading levels. I’d love a neatly organized reading corner/nook with baskets overflowing and arranged by theme/interest. Have I mentioned books? Tons of books? Oh, and leveled novel sets for guided reading groups. So, yeah: books.
2. Colored walls. I’d like us to be able to paint and decorate each year based on what the students like. Customized learning environment for the win.
3. More space! I’d like to put more couches and comfy chairs for students to use. They love the couch we have now, but it’s a love seat. [No fear: there’s no middle school lovin’ going on.] 
4. Computers. We have one working computer now. [I’d like to point out: I know this is more than some people have.] But, it’d be nice to have that as a learning station or just available for more students at a time.
5. Something regarding desks - I’m not sure what I’d want here. I’m okay with what I have now because they’re easily moved into groups, pairs, a huge discussion circle, sides for debates, etc. Maybe just something with more space for them.
