oh, muffins!
  • I woke up and had strawberries with my breakfast. I love strawberries, guys.
  • Had a nearby middle school visit to observe my class today. 6 adults, me and 26 of the best students in the county. Pfft, please. After watching them smoothly transition from Guided Reading groups to mixed-leveled groups for whole group instruction, their principal said:

“Do they do anything she asks?”

My mentor/Reading Specialist said, “She could ask them to line the back of the room and stand on their heads … and they’d go to the back of the room and try their hardest.”

You know why? Because my students are awesome and I love them. This is what we did after the left us alone:

  • Tutoring started today. My bank account rejoices. I mean, it’s not much BUT: it’s more than I had. Am I right? I’m right.
  • My mentor/Reading Specialist was going to forfeit going to the circus with her family because she had to stay until 6:30pm and make sure all the tutoring kids got home from the bus okay. Oh, no: I offered to man the phone lines so she could go juggle elephants. This is the view I had for about an hour and a half:

I just sat and listened to my Principal tell random stories and played on my phone. I’m sure I looked REALLY professional. Like a boss? Nah, not here.

  • Now: the new New Girl and lots of lounging. Because why? Because I earned it today.
  • The end.

OOOOH AND: Carolina v. Duke game tonight! I’ve already made “friendly wagers” with my students. If they win tomorrow: A Carolina t-shirt will totally be appropriate. Let’s go.
